SUMMATIVE
Grade 11 Communications Technology Summative /30 Marks
Final Phases Due June 13
Rebrand
You will be revitalizing and repositioning an existing company brand.
Project Management 30 marks
All of the research should be consolidated into a bibliographical document.
Project Log: Create a blog or website that tracks your progress daily throughout the project. Have a separate page created just for your finished elements and another for your bibliography.
Research 60 marks Due May 2
Produce a 5-8 page document with visuals that includes the following:
1. Rationale: Why do you think that your chosen company needs a rebrand? Explain at least 5 reasons
2. Current Brand Personality: Describe your chosen brand as if it were a person. What is he/she like? 10 or more characteristics.
3. Rebrand Personality: Describe what your brand personality would be like after you are finished with it.
4. Good Brand: Select a successful brand and profile it. Try to find out which agency is responsible for the brand and profile it. Look at at least 5 different examples of the brand in use and provide 10 reasons ( or more) that lead you to conclude that it is
5. For your rebrand, articulate the market demographic for your chosen company. Be specific. Look at other brands that cater to this demographic and describe how they are able to communicate to their specific clientele.
6. Pitch: Sell your ideas for a redesign to the client as it pertains to profitability, recognition, and long term value.

You will be producing an identity package including logo, tagline,
1. Characteristics: Describe the style and feeling you want your logo to convey: bring in visual examples from any source/discipline to reinforce your descriptions.
2. Colour: Select a palette of 2-4 colours as your primary colours for the brand and provide the swatches specifically in RGB, CMYK, and One other space and indicate what the colour value is (i.e. R220, G 150 B 120) in Explain your colour choices.
3. Logo: Redesign the logo for the company. This should extend from the current logo but show a set of refinements. These should be hand sketched, then created in Illustrator. You will have 50 variations on your logo and choose the final from this group. Explain at least 10 reasons why your logo is better than the existing logo.
4. Logo + Other Elements: Develop a layout/design system for your logo to be used with other media: video, print, web
Implementation 100 Marks Due June 9
Commercial/Web/Print Campaign
You will produce a campaign launch for your chosen company that will include at least two different finished products. At least one must be time-based (i.e. Commercial, radio spot, animated or interactive content).
For each, be sure to carry out a pre-production, production, and post-production phase.
Pre-production

Production
Shooting, recording, or site graphics production
Post Production
Editing, effects, output to finished file formats
The results of your projects must be posted to your project website.
Project Reflection 10 Marks
During the project visit at least 3 of your classmates websites and give a meaningful critique to his/her work.
