Rhythm is a design principal based upon the repetition of elements and patterns that are the same. The repition of a design element can lead a viewer to a focal point or control the direction and speed of the viewers attention. The key rhythm is shape and repetition, you can create smooth transitions as well as hard and abrupt. Alternating rhythmic patterns can make new sequence.
We use Rhythm in images because if we repeat the same pattern and then add light and dark contrast to it adds balance and harmony, making it more three-dimensional.
