BRAINFACE

On behalf of the Brainface team on Tuesday February 10th, 2009,
We would like to say we have no idea what we're doing with this project.
And have spent the whole class working hard on our flash animations.
We will immediately start working next day with our found objects as we dont have them today.
Thanks,

Team BISH

Open Source: 'Audacity'

It was quite a while ago when I tried Audacity, but just a few minutes ago when I decided to write a review for it. Audacity is a sound recording/editing program. Most programs require a microphone to record sound, but this one also lets me record sound directly from the speakers, which means I don't need an input source anymore. I have used this method of recording to get sounds from the internet and even my desktop so I can use it in my flash animations. Before I knew about Audacity; I would put my microphone right next to my speakers and record it that way, but it always sounded like static in the end and not any good.

That's not the only reason why I like this program. It is very user friendly and allows me to edit the sounds almost any way I want. If I wanted, I could apply 'base boost', change the tempo, pitch, make it fade in, fade out, apply echo, remove unnecessary background noise, and even reverse the whole sound file. And it's easy too; just highlight any part of the sound file (or all of it) and click on the effect I want to apply. Of course, that was just scratching the surface, there's alot more effects in the program, I don't have the time to mention all of them. When I'm done with the sound file, I can export it as a WAV file, MP3 file, or Ogg Vorbis file, and set the compression settings so it's exactly the way I want it. (I usually export it as an MP3 file with a bit rate of 32kbps.)

Yeah, so Audacity is an awesome program and I recomend it to anyone who's interested in it.
