Andy's Biodegradable Food Packaging

A little bit about PLA (Polylatic acid) food packaging...

-          PLA packaging is currently the leading alternative option to petroleum-based plastic food packaging.
-          Aesthetics are no different than regular plastic.
-          It is derived from fermented plant starch (usually corn starch).
-          Under suitable conditions, PLA packages can decompose within three months, while plastic packages take over 1,000 years.
-          It is carbon neutral: from its production to its decomposition, it leaves no carbon footprints.
-          It contains no toxins.
-          Uses 65% less energy to produce and emits 68% less greenhouse gases compared to conventional plastic.

By using biodegradable packaging, you are becoming greener without any big commitments!

The Eco Friendly Panasonic Headphone Packaging

1. This packaging looks very presentable and attractive. It has a very creative and intuitive design which makes it stand out over other headphones. This product will catch the consumer’s attention when they shop.

2. The packaging is very small and portable. It can fit in your hand and in your pocket.

3. The packaging of this product consists of 35% plastic, 47% of paper and 18% of other unknown materials. The fact that this packaging consists of more paper than plastic makes this product more eco friendly compared to the way the other headphones are packaged. For example Skull candy Macro Beat’s consist of 69% plastic, and 13% of paper. Paper is more eco friendly than plastic because paper comes from leaves, compared to plastic coming from the combustion of oil. The process of combustion results in a lot of air pollution. The production of paper also harms the environment because of the destruction of trees and leaves which are required to help filter out CO2 from the atmosphere.

4. This design is original and no one has ever thought of this design. To add to the compliments this product is eco friendly too!

Sara - Packaging

• November Issues of Creative Review came in bags that dissolve in hot water• Created by Cyberpac in UK
• Up to 3 times stronger than polythene
• The glue of the sealing strip doesn’t dissolve in water but is biodegradable
• Residue is harmless and can go down the drain
• Apparently it’s safe to drink, but just tastes bad
• Can be composted. Hot water just speeds up the process.
• Will degrade completely in a composting environment, dishwasher or washing machine
• Is non-toxic and degraded by micro-organisms, moulds, and yeasts
• The organisms use the bag as a food source by producing enzymes that react with it.
• In the end the bag becomes carbon dioxide, water, and biomass
