Emphasis

Emphasis simply refers to the focal point of the design. There are three main ways to emphasize the main element of a design: Emphasis by contrast, emphasis by isolation, and emphasis by placement.

Emphasis by Contrast:
Having the focal point of a design a bright color against a darker/muted background will create a stark contrast. You can also create contrasts using vertical/horizontal images, regular/irregular shapes, and size.

Emphasis by Isolation:
If many objects are grouped closely together in a design, an object placed by itself will stand out as the focal point.

Emphasis by Placement:
Objects placed near the centre of a design are frequently the focal point of the design.
